A little conversation with my partner, Bianca, led to this realisation.

Many entrepreneurs, even those who have been in business for many years, think that the most important skillset in business is knowing how to generate leads and create sales. I know I’ve been one of them before. But in my 10 years of business I’ve come to understand that more than gaining sales and leads for my company, BUILDING A TEAM is the most vital skillset I could’ve built as an entrepreneur and a leader.

And this isn’t just knowing what to ask in interviews or how to find the right players (or the A Players) in a roster of applicants. It’s about knowing how to work with a team, how to manage a team, and how to bring out the best in them. With the right knowledge and skills as a leader, you’ll find that you can even turn B-Players into A-Players! And with a great team that can run your business as well as (or even better than) you, you’ll have no trouble generating leads and creating more sales in the long run.

Play the long game, and invest in finding and building that team of rockstar players that will build your business to last. How about you? Do you agree that team building is the most important skill in business?
